Maker in Focus

Each edition of Go Short has a special filmmaker in focus. This year, we zoom in on Pilvi Takala. During the festival, besides her work being screened, she will explain more about her process as an artist.

In Focus: Heat Waves

With this focus program, Go Short explores the duality of increasingly hot summers. To learn all about this subject, four interesting film blocks have been put together. Besides that, Radboud University is hosting a program featuring an ecologist and a philosopher to further dive into the topic.

Loud laughter, live music and going your own way

A number of film blocks stand for guaranteed success amongst our most avid Go Short fans. For example, the Comedy Shorts film block is an annual classic where you know you’re going to be on a tear. Or treat your ears during short films accompanied by live music at the Cinema Concerts. Prefer to do things in your own way? Do so! With Go Your Own Way, you are granted the opportunity to choose between two different films every half hour.

Today’s Issues caught in shorts

The Current Issues film blocks are curated by exceptional guest curators. These curators tell their stories through short film, bringing a new perspective. They will all also be present at the festival to provide their program with an in-depth discussion or original fringe programming in their own way. For example, Anne Schoemaker is organizing a silent walk following her film block. More information can be found by clicking through below.

Go Short @ Het Waterkwartier

During its 16th festival edition, Go Short moves to the Waterkwartier neighborhood The festival traditionally kicks off on March 29 with Off the Walls. And on the weekend of March 30 and 31, a free program will be put together for and by area residents.

OFF THE WALLS – FRIDAY 29 MARCH – 8 p.m.

During this film walk, we will take a group on a walk through the neighborhood. We stop at locations where short films are projected on walls in the neighborhood, framed by stories of local residents. Of course, people from outside the Waterkwartier are also welcome. Will you provide a snack, warm clothes and comfortable shoes? Then we’ll take care of the rest.

RAW CINEMA – Saturday, March 30 – 2 p.m.

RAW CINEMA welcomes you to the fascinating world of Thessa Meijer’s short film ‘The Walking Fish’. Working with – and for – local residents, we bring it all together through music, entertainment, art, and of course screenings with a Q&A. The Riverland Healthcentre location will be transformed into an all-encompassing Go Short venue where you will be immersed in the world of water. Our advice? Just go with the flow!

Filmkwartier – Sunday, March 31 – 1 p.m.

Club Goud, Griffioen and Go Short have joined forces and have been conducting creative sessions with residents of the Waterkwartier since February. The selection committee, consisting of these residents, critically examined films that are or will be shown at Go Short and that fit the image of the neighborhood. They would like to show you the result in a festive pop-up cinema at BUUR where the various cinemas welcome you to the various aspects of the neighborhood.
