Go Short launches new filmfestival in Arnhem

In the summer of 2019 Go Short expands to Arnhem and celebrates the shortest night of the year with Gelders DOEK, thé platfrom for cinema from the region and film theatre Focus. In the weekend of June 21 and 22, there are lots of films to be seen in Arnhem. The event is open for a broad public and offers a new, big platform for local talent. The end of the festival is celebrated with the local filmaward het Gouden Hert. Go Short wants to give the local film climate a boost and mentors local makers in the pitching, distributing and producing of new filmprojects.

Regional filmtalent on top

The quality and quantity of regional productions, in particular the short ones, are growing fast. That’s why Go Short expands her program to Arnhem with film theatre Focus and Gelders DOEK during the shortest night of 2019. Apart from different meetings and workshops for filmmakers, there are also short films to be seen during the Filmfestival van de Kortste Nacht. There is not only place for autonomous work, but also for artistic commissioned films and commercial productions. Filmproductions can be entered from now on. Go Short and Gelders DOEK will choose the best films that will be competing for het Gouden Hert. This new local film award gets a solid place at the festival. The members of Gelders DOEK, mainly consisting of experienced filmmakers, can vote and choose the winner of het Gouden Hert. Apart from regional productions, the public gets to see the best films from the selection of the international festival in Nijmegen. Also, Go Short and Deep End Film will launch the first edition in Arnhem of the special urban film walk Off the Walls. The walls of Arnhem will transform into the silver screen during this walk.

From pitch to award, a boost for local filmtalent

For ten years already, Go Short encourages a good international and local short film makers climate. The festival takes in an important role when it comes to the development of new talent in the national film industry. Local makers will be encouraged even more throughout the year with the new event De Gelderland Film Pitch from Go Short. Regional filmmakers are able to pitch, produce, show and distribute filmplans within this project. The Filmfestival van de Kortste Nacht and the Gelderland Film Pitch are supported by the Gemeente Arnhem and the Provincie Gelderland.
