Official selection now chance to win European Film Award
Go Short is not only a shortcut to the Oscars and the BAFTA’s, but as of 2019 it is also an official gateway to the European Film Awards. This is an important acknowledgement for the quality of the festival. Furthermore Go short is the only Dutch film festival accredited by all three academies.
Go Short is an international festival that annunciates the young filmmakers. Being selected to take part in the competition means that opportunities in the rest of the film world might arise. Filmmakers who take part in the competition already qualify for world-renowned film prizes such as the Oscars and the BAFTA’s. In 2019 every selected filmmaker has a shot at being nominated for the European Short Film Awards. Similar to festivals as Berlin, Venice, Rotterdam, an international jury will nominates one short film during Go Short that will qualify for this award. The European Film Academy (EFA) then selects five short films that will actually have the chance to win the prize for best European Short Film in December. Filmmakers who have already been nominated with their short film are Terry Gilliam (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) and Ruben Östlund (The Square). During Go Short in April all nominated short films will screen in the program Short Matters!
