Submissions for Go Short 2023 are now opened
Did you finish a film this year, or will you finish one before the end of the year? Then send us your film before 23 December 2022 and you may get a chance to become part of the competition(s) during the fifteenth edition of Go Short – International Short Film Festival Nijmegen.
The Go Short Awards consist out of a number of different categories. There’s the European Competition, the Dutch Competition, the Student Competition and the Music Video Competition. Additionally, Go Short offers filmmakers the possibility to submit XR-films.
For the European Competition, we accept short fiction, documentary, animation and art films that are made in (geographic) Europe. Submitted films will compete for the Go Short Award in three different categories: Fiction, Animation and Documentary. The winners of these competitions are eligible for the Oscars. We will also nominate one of the submitted films as our candidate for the European Film Awards (EFA).
Was your film made in the Netherlands? Then your film is eligible to compete in the Dutch competition. This competition consists out of high-end productions and the winner receives the Go Short Award for Best Dutch Short. The winner of this competition will also be eligible for the Oscars.
Are you a film student, or did you finish a film at a film school somewhere in Europe? In that case you’re able to compete with fellow European students in our Student Competition. This competition consists of short fiction, documentary, animation and art films made by film students from all over Europe. The best film receives the Encouragement Award. Go Short is also recognized by the Student Academy Awards.
Music Video Competition
Music Videos have become better and better in the last couple of years, and Go Short believes they deserve to be seen on the big screen. For that reason, Go Short happily receives international music videos for the Music Video Competition since 2019.
Films competing in the European Competition, Dutch Competition and Student Competition also compete for the Audience Award. Members of the audience can vote for their favorite film(s) after screenings. Their votes are counted at the end of all screenings and the film with the highest rating wins the Audience Award.
In case a film is selected, Go Short will notify the primary contact and the director of the film, ultimately on 20 February 2023. For more information about how you submit your film, read our regulations.
