Go Short hands out awards for Best Music Video
Friday night 5 April during the 11th edition of Go Short – International Short Film Festival Nijmegen the awards for the best Dutch and best international music video were handed out. Jessica Manstetten (head of the music video programs at International Short Film Festival Oberhausen) and Sarah Veltmeyer (director and scriptwriter) picked the winners as jury. The winners of the other competitions during Go Short will be announced upcoming Saturday night.
Best Dutch Music Video
PYNK has been chosen as best videoclip of a Dutch maker. Emma Westenberg made this video for the American artist Janelle Monáe. The jury substantiated this choice as following: ‘This is a music video that stands out because of its authenticity and courage. It also shows the creative mind of the director. Great costumes, a dynamic montage, a unique performance, amazing locations and colors and a lot of pussy power.‘
The Dutch videoclip Klapper got a special mention. This clip is made by Teemong van den Elskamp for Pietju Bell. “A visually refined video that tells a story about quick fame as a crazy game,” says the jury.
Best International Music Video
The Go Short Award for best international music video’s goes to Queens of The Blaze, made by Jonathan en Guillaume Alric. ‘A philosophy about human life and friendship. A story about love and loss in a beautiful, cinematographic setting. The music video is touching and honest, but never gets sentimental. We can watch this time after time without getting bored.’
All weekend long you will see the best shorts at Go Short. On Saturday the Go Short Awards for the European competition, Dutch competition, Student competition and VR competition will be handed out. Sunday you will see all the winners and audience favorites in special film programs.
