An Afternoon with Charlie Shackleton
Location: LUX Joris Ivens
Charlie Shackleton investigates small stories in a wide variety of non-fiction film formats, from essay films and archival work to vertical experimentation. He approaches serious topics with an open mind and a light touch. Starting as a film critic, Shackleton started to explore film as a tool for criticism, after which he developed his own creative voice further. He specifically explores the context within which stories are told, and the role media and film have in the way stories are constructed. This program gives an overview of his work, from the early essay films to his later experiments with the filmic format.
