Go Short Arnhem puts short film in the spotlight

Go Short is coming to Arnhem, presenting the film festival Go Short Arnhem in collaboration with Focus Filmtheater. From 9 to 11 October 2026, the festival will present the best Gelderland has to offer in short film. Besides that, visitors will be able to enjoy internationally acclaimed movies, and even the youngest film lovers will find something to enjoy.

Gelderland Short Competition

During the Gelderland Short Competition you can, across two film blocks, explore a surprising selection of short films that show the many sides of the regional film world. The selected filmmakers compete for the prestigious Gouden Hert, a professional jury-award that puts the spotlight on new creators.

For the audience this is the chance to be introduced to voices of their own community who are shaping the future of Dutch film.

Late Night Programming

For everyone who wants to stick around in the evening for something exciting, playful or with a little more of a quirky side. In this program it's all about genre films and about the total experience of the evening.

Space Oddities, Late Night Sci-Fi in collaboration with CASA

Now AI is among us, tech bros have set their sights on Mars and our small spaceship Earth is immensely threatened, we've entered a second space-time continuum. So, buckle up for a special sci-fi edition of Go Short, presented by Focus and CASA, with five movies that offer a kaleidoscopic perspective on our future.

Late Night Erotica

Let's get hot and sweaty together! This program explores desire in all kinds of places, from under the summersun on the beach to a dark room filled with strangers.

A selection of the best European short films of the last year, each awarded a national audience prize at partner festivals, which then go on tour to compete for the title.

Family Shorts

Looking for adventure and a little mystery? In this program, we go on holiday with a small but smart hotel detective and follow animals trying to find their way in the world.
We visit the Wadden, cross a special bridge, and meet a small dragon who's learning how to fly.

A program especially for curious young viewers up to 6 years old, and their adults.

Queer Shorts in collaboration with COC  

Four short films about claiming space and looking for connection: on the street, in friendships, in politics.

These films show how diverse queer lives are, and how everyday themes can look different when seen through the eyes of a queer person.

This program is curated by COC Mid-Gelderland.

Go Short Arnhem Industry Day 

Go Short invites film professionals from the Gelderland region and beyond to a day full of industry activities. Come and discover the best short films from Gelderland, meet the filmmakers behind these films, and connect with like-minded creators. The industry program includes the Gelderland Film Pitch, a creative masterclass, and a feedback session. The day concludes with an informal networking dinner, followed by an evening screening of Gelders Kort and an awards ceremony.

The industry day is free; for some events, advance registration is required. Tickets are required for film screenings.
